for you! In the olden days when the lands were ruled by kings and queens, there was a superstition which was started which had to do with bread and it's association to hair. Bread was considered so precious because it came from the earth, that not even the crumbs were thrown away. Hair which was also considered precious and a symbol of power, became associated with the eating of bread crust. Curly hair was considered to be every lucky because it had a circular pattern which resembles the circular path the sun makes when it travels. Primitive man believed that anyone with ringlets was well protected by the sun or sun-god. A baby’s first cut hair was saved and rolled into a ringlet, (even if the hair was straight) then put in a safe place to help the child live a long life. Thus came the saying, "If you eat bread crusts, your hair will curl."
